About
Let your special event become a memorable occasion at one of our 4 historic homes and gardens.
The classic elegance and charm of some of Columbia's oldest properties provide a tranquil, traditional escape in the heart of the Robert Mills Historic District. Our venues are perfect for beautiful southern weddings, rehearsal dinners, bridal and baby showers, large events and festivals, fundraisers, photoshoots, or business meetings. From large gatherings to small celebrations, we can make any event one to remember.
Enclosed by lush gardens and steeped in local history, Columbia's oldest remaining home is an idyllic and intimate oasis. Multiple enchanting spaces – both in the gardens and inside the house – allow flexibility for any type of event. From the most intimate of ceremonies to the grandest of celebrations, the Seibels House and Garden is a venue unlike any other.

Just, like, really really good
Obviously, the place is beautiful, and its history lends it a lot of character. It's also almost startlingly reasonable in price, it's in an excellent location, and it's popular enough that the major vendors in the area are already familiar with it. But perhaps the best part—and here's hoping this isn't a weird thing to say—is their rental coordinator, Shelby.* She was, by a long shot, the most helpful and most professional person we coordinated with on any part of our wedding.
It being a historic property, you'll run into a few restrictions about what you can place where. But that didn't end up getting much in our way, and it's really the only thing I've got for the 'cost' side of the cost-benefit analysis.
*(note) Shelby works for Historic Columbia—she isn't affiliated with the rental company mentioned in another review. For what it's worth, if the company that other review is talking about is Party Reflections, I second the negative evaluation. But you're actually not required to use them.

Once we toured the house and garden, we were sold. It had the perfect look and feel we wanted. Because it is an historic building and property, they do have strict rules about what you can use and not use (e.g., nothing flammable so candles are out) and building usage. However, with advance planning, they worked with us and were able to accomodate several special requests. One drawback is the required rental company. They are expensive and, unlike the venue, are NOT professional, responsive, or reliable. While the look was exactly what we wanted, working with this rental company, has been a nightmare. Beware - up until the week of the event, I thought they, while expensive, seemed reliable and helpful. I learned differently the day of and afterwards that this was definitely an illusion. Despite this, the wonderful staff at the house and our great caterer (Southern Way), took up the slack and made everything work. I would definitely have an event there again, even with the rental company (but this time I am forewarned).
